Vice President, Account Director (NYC-Based)

Job description

As a VP, Account Director at Ocean Media, you’ll lead with purpose, overseeing client accounts to drive innovative, high-impact cross-channel media strategies. This is your opportunity to step into a role where your expertise will shape campaigns spanning digital and traditional platforms, including video, audio, programmatic, and out of home. As a trusted advisor to our clients, you’ll act as the senior voice of the agency, collaborating with internal teams and delivering measurable results in a data-driven environment.  This role is perfect for seasoned professionals eager to break free from the constraints of a large agency and make a tangible impact within a collaborative and agile team.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development of cutting-edge, integrated strategies across digital and traditional channels, tailored to client goals.
  • Spearhead cross-channel campaigns across TV, CTV, Amazon, Audio, and Out of Home.
  • Drive results by leveraging first-, second-, and third-party data to deliver campaigns that exceed KPIs and ROI targets.

Client Partnership

  • Act as the primary client advisor, hosting regular meetings to set measurable objectives, align KPIs, and review campaign progress.
  • Build trusted relationships with client teams, providing expert recommendations rooted in innovation and strategic foresight.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth by proposing new solutions and tactics that align with client goals.

Data-Driven Optimization

  • Analyze campaign performance using dashboards, reports, and analytics, uncovering insights that fuel optimization and strategy pivots.
  • Lead proactive discussions around performance trends and provide actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.

Team Collaboration and Development

  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including Media Ops, Analytics, and Research—to ensure seamless campaign execution.
  • Mentor and grow team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Innovation and Industry Leadership

    • Stay ahead of industry trends, platform updates, and emerging tools, integrating these insights into your strategies.
    • Embrace cutting-edge solutions such as programmatic buying, mobile optimization, and audience segmentation to maximize outcomes.

Education and Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.)  Preferred ; Or equivalent Ocean Media experience

Experience
  • A proven leader with 8+ years of experience in media strategy and account management, preferably at a large agency.
  • Expertise in both digital and traditional media, with a deep understanding of campaign performance metrics, data analytics, and optimization.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
  • An innovative thinker who thrives on staying ahead of industry trends and integrating fresh solutions.
  • A hands-on leader with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
Specific knowledge required

Strategic Planning and Execution Skills

  • Budgeting & Media Planning: Basic grasp of digital media buying principles (such as CPM, CPC, and CPA), budgeting, and pacing. This includes understanding how to allocate budgets across digital channels and the factors influencing pricing in different channels.
  • Agile Project Management: Adept at managing timelines and workflows, recognizing when to pivot in response to campaign performance, and ensuring efficient collaboration with internal teams to meet deadlines.

Communication and Client Relationship Skills

  • Problem-Solving Under Pressure: Digital campaigns can encounter roadblocks—be it budget constraints, platform policy changes, or unexpected results. An account person should be able to troubleshoot and offer quick, strategic solutions to keep campaigns on track.

Comprehensive knowledge of account service practices including internal and external leadership tasks and responsibilities

Compensation Range: $110-$170k/year. This is the pay range Ocean Media reasonably expects it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on level of experience, relevant skills, professional certifications, market pay, and demand for the role. Ocean Media reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
