In the aftermath of the Priceline Negotiator, played by William Shatner, passing away while saving a bus load of travelers, Priceline’s commercials continue to place a strong focus on remembering the Negotiator’s legacy as the company moves towards different business models.
Priceline “killed off” the Negotiator so that they could better promote their great flat-rate deals that constitute the majority of their hotel reservation services. The past few commercials since the Negotiator’s death have been about the people he “saved” remembering his final messages and the newest one continues that strategy, but also brings in a reality TV star to help out!
Theresa Caputo from TLC’s ‘Long Island Medium’ joins in this time to serve as a medium between the Negotiator and Priceline customers, allowing him to pass on his message about how to continue to save money using Priceline.
“Given the ‘status’ of the Negotiator, Theresa Caputo was a natural choice to help us continue the narrative of this campaign,” said Priceline.com’s Chief Marketing Officer Brett Keller. “It was a pleasure working with Theresa and we hope her fans enjoy seeing this side of her.”
Take a look:
“It was a blast doing this spot,” said Caputo. “The hardest thing about comedy is delivering those lines with a straight face. But it is the Negotiator, after all, and his sole concern, wherever he is, is saving people money on their priceline.com hotel rooms.”
