Media Buying Client Pricegrabber.com has released their latest survey, this one on the 2011 holiday-season spending trends of consumers. In the survey of over 3000 online respondents conducted by Pricegrabber, more than half revealed they plan on spending over $500 this holiday season. Thirty-six percent will buy less than $500 worth of goods, with the remaining 12% not locked into a budget yet.
The most common category of gift spending is clothing with 66% of respondents planning on buying clothes. Some other areas consumers anticipate spending include Gift cards (52%), Books/Movies/Video games (46%), Toys (43%), Shoes (25%) and jewelry (20%). Electronics are another common category for spending, with the most popular product being tablets, followed by MP3s, e-book readers and smartphones.
When it comes down to the day people expect to do this spending, 28% indicate the day after Thanksgiving as the top day for deals, 15% the Monday after Thanksgiving and 28% plan to wait until December for the best deals.
