It has been nearly 16 years since Ancestry.com launched, and the company has announced that they have reached the two million active subscribers mark. That two million subscribers mark puts Ancestry.com up amongst the leading paid-subscription resources in the world!

In the many years since launch, Ancestry.com has expanded from 472 million text-based static records at launch, to now having more than 10 billion records filled with images, can date back to over 750 years ago, and are that are completely searchable online. Since 2008 alone, more than 6 billion connections have been made between subscribers’ family trees. One subscriber has even attached more than 1.5 million records to her family tree!
Ancestry also celebrated passing the 2 million active subscribers mark by rewarding its longest-standing active member (since 1997) with a lifetime subscription.
“We are grateful to all our subscribers for helping us reach the milestone of two million active subscribers, and for challenging us to continuously improve our service,” said Tim Sullivan, President and CEO of Ancestry.com. “When Ancestry.com began more than 15 years ago, our goal was to make family history research accessible to – and fun for – everyone. Our reaching two million active subscribers is just the latest step in the public’s growing interest in discovering more about themselves by preserving and sharing their family history on a global basis.”
